This course provides the training necessary to test for the Suffolk County Food
Manager’s Certificate.
A person with a valid Food Safety/Food Protection Certificate issued by an approved authority is required
to be in each food service establishment during all hours of operation.
The course is designed to fit into your busy schedule by allowing you to start and
stop the class at your convenience and allowing 45 days for completion of the class.
The course is divided into 20 lessons, each of which will take you about 1/2 hour
to finish. There is a short quiz at the end of each section. You must spend a minimum
of 5 minutes reviewing a lesson before you can take a quiz. You must answer all
of the quiz questions in each section correctly before you can move on to the next
section. If you fail to answer all quiz questions correctly, you are required to
spend an additional 5 minutes reviewing the lesson before taking the quiz again.
After you register, you will receive an email confirming your user id (your email
address) and password. You will need your user ID and password each time you login
to the website.
After you have successfully completed all 20 lessons, you must register to come
and take the final exam at our Yaphank office. You'll receive a confirmation number
that you must bring with you to the exam, along with a driver's license or other
official photo identification. A fee of $50 is charged to all students to take the
final exam. Payment for the final exam must be made when scheduling an exam date.
A service fee will be charged for all credit card payments. Please be advised that the exam fee is non-refundable.
The final exam consists of 55 written questions and lasts one hour. You must answer
75% or more of the questions correctly to qualify for the Food Manager’s Certificate.
If you fail to achieve the minimum passing score, you can register for the oral
exam, retake the online course or take the 3-day course at our Yaphank office. There
is no additional fee to take the online course and exam a second time, nor the oral
exam, but the full $75 fee will be charged to take the classroom course.
After you pass the final exam, your certificate will be provided to you immediately.
