FOR
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR OC
1.
COMMUNICATING
AND INTERACTING WITH THE PUBLIC -
These questions test for the ability to communicate effectively with
individuals and community groups. Topics may include organizing and delivering public
presentations, presenting and clarifying agency policies and programs,
educating and informing about topics of concern, dealing with the general
public, expressing sensitivity to citizens' concerns, and representing one's
agency or program according to good public relations practices.
2.
OPERATING AN
INTERPRETIVE CENTER - These
questions test for knowledge of the principles and techniques used in planning,
organizing, implementing and evaluating interpretive education programs;
recruiting and utilizing volunteers; publicizing center activities;
establishing and maintaining good public relations; and working with advisory
groups and community organizations.
3.
PREPARING
WRITTEN MATERIAL
- These questions test for the ability
to present information clearly and accurately, and to organize paragraphs
logically and comprehensibly. For some questions, you will be given information
in two or three sentences followed by four restatements of the information. You
must then choose the best version. For other questions, you will be given
paragraphs with their sentences out of order. You must then choose, from four
suggestions, the best order for the sentences.
4.
UNDERSTANDING
THE NATURAL SCIENCES - These
questions will test for basic knowledge in areas such as plant, wildlife and
aquatic species and habitats; concepts in ecology including the impact of
natural and artificial changes on the ecosystem; and conservation problems and
practices related to air, soils, water, wetlands and other natural resources.
