The work
involves serving as executive secretary and administrator to a Town Economic
Development Commission. The employee in
this class acts as secretary to an economic development commission and
administers the office of the commission in the work of attracting new
industries to a township. The incumbent
prepares and directs an advertising and public relations program to achieve the
goals of the economic development committee and maintains the necessary records
for the economic development commission.
The work is performed under the general supervision of the members of
the economic development commission and is reviewed for the achievement of
desired results. Does related work as
required.
TYPICAL WORK
ACTIVITIES
Creates and administers an activities
program stressing the qualities and attractions of a town to perspective
industries;
Creates a sales and promotion program
to perspective companies planning relocation;
Analyzes and prepares reports on
labor, transportation, finance and recreation facilities within the township;
Acts as a liaison to other town
agencies to facilitate zoning changes and other administrative procedures to
assist new industries;
Attends ecomonic development
commission meetings, serves as secretary to the commission;
Prepares replies to general
correspondence.

PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough
knowledge of the geographic, commercial and transportation facilities of the
township which can be stressed to attract new industry; good knowledge of the
various town and state laws which are applicable to the establishment of new
industries in the township; good knowledge of effective public relations and
advertising techniques; ability to prepare statistical reports and surveys;
ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the
position.

is in the exempt jurisdictional class; therefore, there are no minimum
qualifications.
