DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class operates sophisticated duplicator and ancillary equipment, including copiers with computer programmable functions, to produce legible photocopies of official records, documents, stationery, newspapers, budgets, or other materials.  A position in this class differs from that of a Photocopy Machine Operator in that supervision may be exercised over subordinate personnel, including Photocopy Machine Operators; equipment of a greater variety and complexity is used; the employee has greater latitude in determining the best way to complete assignments, and; work includes more complex assignments including editorial functions such as paste-up and page numbering. The employee is expected to make minor repairs to equipment.  Assignments are received in the form of documents to be photocopied or work orders to be completed.  Supervision is received from an administrator or other supervisor through periodic review of the finished product. Does related work as required.

        

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

         Oversees and participates in the work of producing photocopies of correspondence, documents, pamphlets, and other printed material and collates sets when required, utilizing sophisticated equipment including high-speed duplicators with computer programmable functions, laminators, binders, etc;

         Makes adjustments and minor repairs to photocopy machines and ancillary equipment;

         Keeps records of photocopy assignments performed and reviews ongoing assignments for timely completion;

         Maintains inventory of supplies required and reorders supplies as needed.

         May supervise Photocopy Machine Operators or other subordinate personnel.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Thorough knowledge of how to operate photocopy machinery; good knowledge of modern office procedures, terminology and equipment; ability to make minor repairs to equipment; ability to supervise the activities of others in a manner conducive to full productivity and high morale; ability to follow oral and written instructions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

         OPEN COMPETITIVE

         Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and one (1) year of experience operating photocopy machinery including high-speed duplicator equipment.

 

NOTE High-speed duplicator equipment is defined as equipment capable producing a minimum of 75 copies per minute.

 

         PROMOTIONAL

         One (1) year of permanent competitive status as a Photocopy Machine Operator.
