DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves bookkeeping duties
for a town or school district library at the direction of the Library Board and
includes responsibility for the receipt, disbursement and recording of all
moneys belonging to the library.
General supervision is exercised over the financial clerk. Work is reviewed through examination of
periodic reports and statements and through periodic audits. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Prepares an annual report of the
receipt and disbursement of library moneys for the Board of Library Trustees.
Records all receipts to payer
and financial clerk for funds turned over to custody of Treasurer.
Issues monthly reports on
beginning month balance, itemized receipts, total withdrawals, balance on hand
and reconciliation.
May deposit or invest funds on
short-term basis as authorized by Library Board.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS,
ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of bookkeeping
principles and practices; good knowledge of methods used in preparing financial
and statistical reports; good knowledge of standard office methods and
practices; ability to make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately;
ability to follow instructions; ability to learn the laws, regulations and
procedures related to school district finances; clerical aptitude; physical
condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in the Exempt Class;
therefore there are no minimum qualifications.
