DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under the direct supervision of a higher-level Examiner an employee in this class assists in the on-site administration of a Civil Service examination.  The work may involve assisting in the distribution and collection of examination papers, serving as a guide to direct examination candidates to examination sites or restroom facilities, and assisting in observing candidates during an examination for compliance to formal Civil Service examination procedures.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Assists a higher-level Examiner in the administration of a Civil Service examination;

          Distributes and collects examination papers;

          Counts finished examination papers to assure that all examination material is returned by candidates;

          Observes candidates during an examination to prevent cheating or lack of compliance to Civil Service procedures;

          Serves as guide to direct examination candidates to examination sites;

          Escorts examination candidates to restroom facilities.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Ability to read and write; ability to understand complex verbal instructions; ability to take directions from a higher-level Examiner; ability to communicate simple verbal directions to examination candidates; ability to observe examination candidates for compliance to prescribed examination procedures in an objective manner; ability to perform the routine clerical distribution and collection of examination papers; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

There are no minimum qualifications for this position.

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Availability to work on Saturdays.
