Under the direction of an Examiner IV
or V, an employee in this class administers Civil Service examinations to the
public. The Examiner III is usually
assigned to a classroom or other specialized exam setting and is responsible
for administering a Civil Service exam to a small group of people. The Examiner III may be responsible for
directing the activities of subordinate Examiners assisting in the
administration of an exam. Does related
work as required.
Administers a variety of Civil Service
examinations;
Distributes
and collects examination papers for written examinations;
Maintains
security of examination material and reports any unusual occurrences;
Follows
written instructions for examination administration and directs candidates in
following procedures;
Checks
attendance against a room list and verifies identity of candidates.
Good knowledge of the standard
procedures used in proctoring and administering Civil Service examinations;
ability to follow complex written and oral instructions; ability to communicate
instructions effectively to examination candidates; ability to administer a
Civil Service examination in a professional and objective manner; physical
condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Graduation from a New York State or
regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree; or,
Some
work experience in the administration of examinations is desirable.
Availability to work on Saturdays.
