DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under general supervision, an employee in this class utilizes a computer and various software packages to create charts and graphs both in color and black and white.  Requests for graphics are analyzed to determine the most appropriate software, and modifications are made as needed.  Supervision is provided by an administrative or technical supervisor who reviews the finished product and provides assistance as needed.  The incumbent may provide training in the use of software packages.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Analyzes data to determine applicability of computer graphics to project;

          Meets with clients to discuss requests;

          Determines most appropriate software; modifies as needed;

          Produces prints, transparencies and low resolution slides;

          Researches new equipment and software packages; attends appropriate seminars and workshops;

          Maintains inventory and orders graphics supplies;

          Maintains records of all projects requested and completed; provides billing information.

         

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of graphics software packages; good knowledge of setting up graphs; some knowledge of operating a personal computer; ability to create aesthetically balanced graphs and charts; ability to follow instructions; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain records; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

          OPEN COMPETITIVE

          Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and one (1) year of experience utilizing computer graphics in computer operations.
