DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under general supervision, an employee
in this class is responsible for reviewing, verifying and monitoring data from
initial input, through processing, to end user. The incumbent may enter data, and maintains records of data to be
processed, programs to be run and data used in processing. Work is reviewed by a Data Control
Specialist or other technical supervisor through conferences, observations,
periodic reports and effectiveness of the operation. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Assembles
and reviews "raw" input data for acceptability;
Routes
work for keying and verifying;
Maintains
logging and balancing procedures;;
Maintains
and operates tape;
Monitors
tape performance and cleaning;
Maintains
control of and returns data library materials;
Validates
computer printouts and reports prior to distribution; distributes to end users.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS,
ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of procedures related to
control of input and output at a data processing center; good knowledge of
general office practices and procedures; working knowledge of data processing
terminology and equipment; ability to verify accuracy of data; ability to
maintain records; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to
express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical
condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN
COMPETITIVE
Graduation
from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency
diploma, and two (2) years of experience in the field of electronic data
processing, including the operation of CRT terminals, computers or peripheral
equipment and related clerical functions.
NOTE: Education beyond
high school in the field of computer science may be substituted for experience
at the rate of six (6) credits equal to one (1) year of the above experience.
