DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class prepares and reviews deed data and other information within the Real Property Tax Service Agency.  Assignments include compiling  data from a computerized database, microfilm or microfiche for review by Real Property Recorders.  The incumbent is also responsible for inputting reviewed data into the Real Property Information System and recording daily document counts.  Work is subject to close supervision, and is reviewed by supervisors upon completion both for content and accuracy.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

            Gathers and prepares real property and mortgage data from computerized databases, microfilm and/or microfiche;

            Inputs approved data in the computerized Real Property Information System;

            Forwards appropriate documents to towns, villages and other jurisdictions;

            Maintains appropriate record of numbers of documents processed;

            Reviews the more complex Mortgage Assignments and Satisfactions;

            Operates a variety of simple office equipment.         

                       

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Working knowledge of mapping, property transfers, appraisals or assessments; good knowledge of general office terminology, procedures and equipment; ability to use computerized databases, microfilm and/or microfiche readers; ability to instruct and supervise in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale; ability to keep records; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

            OPEN-COMPETITIVE

            Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and one (1) year of technical or clerical experience with a real estate office, mortgage company, title company, engineering firm, architectural firm, land surveyor or governmental agency that involves mapping, property transfers, real estate appraisals, assessments, civil engineering, architecture, zoning inspection or site plan review.

 

            NOTE:

            Additional education may be substituted for the above one (1) year of technical or clerical experience.
