DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE
CLASS
Under general supervision, an
employee in this class plans and administers a dog census program, which may
include division of the Town into dog census districts for said
enumeration. Supervision is exercised
over data collection staff and the attendant compilation of appropriate fees. Work is reviewed by an administrative
superior through conferences and written reports. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Plans, supervises and
administers a town dog census program;
Establishes
dog census districts for systematic data collection;
Coordinates
the activities of staff assigned to said districts for data collection;
Trains
and supervises census takers;
Tabulates
final data and prepares reports;
Coordinates
efforts with functions provided by the Town's animal shelter.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS,
ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of the geography
of the Town; good knowledge of Section 108, Article 7 of the Agriculture and
Markets Law; ability to make simple arithmetic computations; ability to deal
with the public in a tactful and courteous manner; ability to supervise others
in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale; ability to express
oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to follow
written and oral instructions; physical condition commensurate with the demands
of the position.
