DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under general supervision, an employee in this class assists in the administration of programs to ensure efficient utilization of space within budgetary limits.  The incumbent is responsible for meeting with department representatives regarding space utilization and/or operation and maintenance of owned or leased buildings.  Responsibility is included for assisting in building evaluation and recommendations for renovations.  Work is reviewed through conferences and reports. Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Reviews space assignment requests for departments and agencies, and recommends appropriate space;

          Assists in the supervision of operation and maintenance of buildings and building custodial services and security;

          Recommends plans for space utilization;

          Assists in preparation of division budget and materials specifications;

          Supervises establishment and maintenance of computerized records;

          Inspects buildings to determine maintenance requirements;

          Makes recommendations regarding leasing of space.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and technology of building space analysis; good knowledge of building operation and maintenance practices; good knowledge of current developments and sources of information related to building space analysis; good knowledge of principles of management and reporting techniques; knowledge of building design; knowledge of applicable laws and regulatory codes; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to prepare reports; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

          OPEN COMPETITIVE

          Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by New York State with a Bachelor's Degree, and three (3) years of experience in real estate analysis, building space analysis, and/or building operation and maintenance.                    

 

NOTE: Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.
