DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class assists in the analysis of data and
preparation of statistical and written reports for the Suffolk County
Legislature. Work is performed under close supervision, usually as part of a
team. Assignments and supervision are received from professional or
administrative supervisors. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Assists in analyzing
the fiscal and programmatic effects of the Suffolk County Executive's proposed
operating and capital budgets;
Participates in a team
effort by assisting with research and analysis for a special project;
Collects data, and
assists with analyzing the data and preparing a written report of findings and
recommendations;
Assists in researching
a variety of issues of importance to the Legislature: such as organizational
structures, program costs and benefits, impacts of budgetary changes and the
status of federal and state legislation or funding.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS
Working knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of public
administration, public finance and budgeting; working knowledge of the
principles of cost-benefit analysis; working knowledge of program evaluation
and methods; working knowledge of federal and state grant programs; ability to
assist in the conduct of limited studies of government operations and to
perform fiscal research; ability to assess the fiscal implication of moderately
complex legislation; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both
orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the
position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a New
York State or regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's
Degree.
