DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class is responsible for assisting the BOCES Executive Director of Instructional Support, Planning and Technology Services in the administration of the Division of Instructional Support, Planning and Technology Services.  Responsibilities include liaison with various divisions and school districts, public relations and coordination of new systems and services provided by the division.  The work involves varied complex and confidential duties requiring a high degree of discretion and independent initiative and judgement.  The incumbent reports directly to the Executive Director, who reviews work through periodic conferences and written reports.  Does related work as required.           

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

            Assists the Executive Director in developing and maintaining the division's annual budget;

            Acts as a liaison with other Divisions and school districts;

            Assists in reconciling problems associated with the services provided by the division;

            Monitors and reports on the day to day operations of the administrative and support staff;

            Develops bids and requests for proposals;

Prepares Co-Ser compliance, Annual Board Reports and Shared Service Guides related to divisional activities;

Assists in planning and developing new systems and services provided by the division to school districts;

Assists in marketing services to school districts and other outside agencies;

May represent the Division at various meetings.

                       

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of office management and the ability to apply these principals to office operations; thorough knowledge of the policies and programs of the Division of Instructional Support, Planning and Technology Services; thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques of report preparation; ability to gather, assemble and evaluate facts and figures and arrive at sound and logical conclusions; ability to prepare accurate and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with associates, employees and the general public; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.   

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

            OPEN COMPETITIVE

            Either:

            a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and eight (8) years of experience in business administration or finance; or,

            b) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's Degree in Business Administration and six (6) years of experience in business administration or finance; or,

            c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of a) and b).
