DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under immediate supervision, an employee in this class assists in the preparation of architectural drawings. Work requires basic knowledge of architectural principles and practices and a knowledge of drafting techniques.  Assignments are received from a technical supervisor who checks work in progress and reviews completed work for accuracy.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES                               

          Assists in the preparation of architectural drawings and correction of shop drawings;

          Utilizes AUTO CAD software;

          Letters drawings, title sheets and schedules;

          Operates blueprint machine and other copying devices;

          Takes measurements in the field on a job site;

          Prepares scale drawings from field information.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Some knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of architectural drafting; some knowledge of building construction techniques and materials; skill in the use of drafting instruments; ability to become proficient in the use of AUTO CAD software; ability to perform technical computations and mathematical conversions; ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

          OPEN COMPETITIVE

          Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in architectural drafting.
