DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class assists in the development of plans for implementation of Criminal Justice programs, and includes liaison with federal, state and local governmental agencies.  Supervision is received from an administrative supervisor.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

            Coordinates and administers program requirements such as contract adjustments, sub-contracts, approval of personnel and submission of reports.

            Prepares monthly cost reports, state vouchers and other documents for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services;

            Analyzes project expenses and reviews project progress reports to ascertain whether project objectives are being met in accordance with grant award contract;

            Provides technical assistance in the areas of project conception, grant applications and implementation processes to prospective applicants;

            May assist in preparing requests for bid and review of bid responses and in subsequent applicant interviews.

           

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of planning and implementing criminal justice programs; good knowledge of the techniques and methods of data collection and analyses; some knowledge of public administration; ability to establish and maintain effective cooperative relationships with civic leaders, department heads and public officials; ability to supervise the work of clerical personnel; ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

            OPEN COMPETITIVE

            Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of experience in the planning and administration of social programs, one (1) year of which must have been in criminal justice services.

 

NOTE:  Additional graduate education relevant to the above experience will be substituted for experience to a maximum of one (1) year.
