HOUSING
REHABILITATION ADMINISTRATOR 1579
Under
general supervision an employee in this class has primary responsibility for
coordinating the Community Development Housing Rehabilitation Program, or a
similar program in a town or other jurisdiction. The work involves major elements in the operation, financing and
implementation of a County's housing rehabilitation program or a similar
program. The incumbent is responsible
for maintaining effective relationships with the staffs of those communities
participating in the rehabilitation program.
Supervision is received from an administrative supervisor through
conferences and oral and written reports.
Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Develops
and administers a housing rehabilitation program for the Suffolk County
Community Development Consortium or other agency;
Acts as liaison between
the County or other jurisdiction and participating communities to coordinate
the implementation of the rehabilitation program;
Monitors the progress and
financing of the County Housing Program or other program;
Develops and administers
the financial capacity to implement the program within the Urban County;
Provides advice and
coordination from start to completion of rehabilitation work;
Acts as liaison to
financial institutions which will provide loans and assists in negotiations;
Conducts meetings with local
communities relative to the program's operations.

CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough
knowledge of Housing and Community Development Block Grant regulations;
thorough knowledge of rehabilitation programs and techniques; ability to
maintain good working relationships with public and private officials; ability
to interpret and apply regulations and contractural agreements; ability to
express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing; physical condition
commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
(a) Graduation from a
New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's
Degree, and one (1) year of experience in the administration of a housing
rehabilitation program; or,
( Graduation from a senior high
school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of
experience in finance, banking or budgeting, at least one (1) year of which was
in the administration of a housing rehabilitation program; or,
( An equivalent combination of
education and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).
