DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class is involved in assisting in the administration of a community development program for a municipal government.  The incumbent assists in the planning and scheduling of project activities for the community development program in a particular town or village.  Responsibility is included for acting in the place of the Community Development Project Supervisor in the Supervisor’s absence.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

         Assists the Community Development Project Supervisor in the preparation of Community Development applications and reports;

         Prepares reports and makes recommendations regarding community development program policies;

         Acts in place of the Community Project Supervisor in the supervisor’s absence;

         Insures that community development projects are completed in accordance with contractual agreements.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of housing and community development laws, regulations, and program operations, as they apply to municipal agencies; good knowledge of general contracting and appraisal techniques; ability to learn and utilize housing and building codes of a town or village; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical conditions commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

         OPEN COMPETITIVE

         Either:

         (a) Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of experience in public administration, planning or architecture; or,

        

         (b) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in public administration, planning or architecture; or,

                 

         (c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).
