DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under general direction, an employee in this class is responsible for directing and administering all planning programs and policies for regional planning in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  Does related work as required.

 

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Directs and administers the programs and policies of the Long Island Regional Planning Board;

          Consults with and advises state, city, town, and village officials on matters pertaining to regional planning;

          Initiates studies to carry out the purposes of the Long Island Regional Planning Board.

 

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of county and regional planning; thorough knowledge of modern administrative principles and practices; ability to represent the Long Island Regional Planning Board and to interpret its functions and objectives to various interested groups and individuals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials and the general public; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in the exempt jurisdictional class, therefore, there are no minimum qualifications.
