DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under direct supervision, an employee in this class assists
in the operation of a computerized copy camera to produce negatives of printed
material, in stripping negative flats and in the preparation of layouts. The incumbent performs elementary work
encountered in the offset duplication of printed or typed forms, reports,
brochures and other materials. Work is
performed under the direct supervision of assigned supervisory personnel, and is
reviewed while in progress and upon completion of quality of work
performed. Does related work as
required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Assists in the operation and
maintenance of a computerized copy camera;
Assists in preparing chemicals for
the processing of negatives associated with automated film processor;
Strips non-complex negative flats
including halftones and captions;
Photographs non-complex line copy.
FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of the operation of computerized copy
cameras; good knowledge of film processing techniques; some knowledge of
layout, stripping and opaquing of negatives; ability to produce line negatives;
ability to carry out oral and written instructions; physical condition
commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Graduation from a standard senior
high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year
of experience in the operation of offset copy cameras, film stripping and
photographic chemicals and papers.
