DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under direct supervision, an employee in this class is responsible for
assisting health clinic patients to better understand and follow the most routine
of clinic operations. Responsibility is
included for interpreting clinic questionnaires, checking medical forms for
completeness, and for directing patients to clinic subdivisions. Detailed instructions and close supervision
are received at the beginning of work assignments but the duties are of such
routine nature that the employee is expected to work without constant
supervision. Work is thoroughly
reviewed by supervisors through observation of performance. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Greets patients entering
clinics and directs them to the proper clinic subdivisions for their particular
needs;
Distributes medical
questionnaires, explains type of information being requested, and checks forms
for completeness;
Answers basic and routine
telephone and personal inquiries, directs the more difficult questions to the
proper superiors;
Verifies that all
required records and papers are complete for processing of medical records;
records simple data for record-keeping purposes;
Maintains appointment
registers, makes appointments for clients, and maintains simple records of
appointments made.

Ability to acquire knowledge of the clinic's operation and services rendered;
ability to keep limited records; ability to give simple directions in a clear
speaking voice; ability to greet people in a kind and courteous manner; ability
to react quickly and calmly in cases of emergency; ability to follow written and
oral directions in exact detail; physical condition commensurate with the
demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this position. Candidates, however, must have ability to
read and write English.
