DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under
general supervision, an employee in this class is responsible for the
scheduling and assigning of Morgue Ambulance Drivers, for seeing that
ambulances and departmental vehicles are maintained in clean and safe operating
condition and for keeping section records. The incumbent must be available to
work various shifts in order to provide direct supervision of all Morgue
Ambulance Drivers. Work is reviewed through conferences and written reports.
Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Schedules
Morgue Ambulance Drivers to cover round-the-clock departmental requirements;
Responsible for the
removal of bodies and personal property of decedents from death scenes, tagging
bodies for identification, and delivering them to the morgue;
Prepares trip reports,
accident reports, and reports on needed vehicle repairs;
Responsible for seeing
that ambulances are properly equipped and maintained in clean condition;
Availability to work
various shifts in order to provide direct supervision of all Morgue Ambulance
Drivers.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge of driving regulations and County roads; skill in the
operation of a motor vehicle; ability to supervise ambulance drivers and see
that Department regulations are adhered to in work performance; ability to
prepare reports and keep accurate records; physical condition commensurate with
the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two
(2) years experience as a Morgue Ambulance Driver or other full time driving
experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Candidates must possess a
current, valid and appropriate New York State driver's license, and maintain it
throughout employment in this title.
