DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

This position involves responsibility for caring for a small model livestock and agriculture farm. The employee works under the supervision of a teacher. The incumbent may be required to have some basic knowledge of farm tasks. The work is reviewed by observation and by perception of the results achieved. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Feeds animals and poultry and maintains their enclosures.

Plants, fertilizes, waters and provides general care for greenhouse and outdoor crops.

Drives the school minibus.

Works as needed on weekends and holidays.

Assists in guiding children around farm area.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Some knowledge of agriculture and animal husbandry; ability to work with children in an educational environment; ability to maintain order among pupils and visiting groups; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

There are no minimum qualifications for this position.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Candidate must possess a valid New York State Operator's License at the time of appointment and retain this license throughout the term of employment in this title.
