COMMUNITY
SERVICE AIDE
3701
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF
THE CLASS
An employee in this class acts as liaison between residents of a community, and municipal agencies or departments which provide services and assistance to those in need. The incumbent may call at the homes of residents, assist them at local community centers, or receive and refer inquiries and complaints via telephone. The work consists of advising community residents of employment opportunities, health services, counseling services, or means of resolving a variety of other community problems. Work differs from that found in the Community Service Worker class in that Community Service Aides are performing lower level duties for the purpose of informing community residents about available services; they are not involved in the implementation and delivery of services or in actually dealing with providers in order to secure services for clients (i.e.: locating housing through landlords or brokers). Work is performed under general supervision and is carried out according to established procedures. Does related work as required.
