FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under general
supervision, an employee in this class assists in the implementation of a
program which combines nutrition, recreation and counseling for senior citizens
at a town facility. Work is reviewed by
conferences with the Senior Citizens Nutrition Center Manager. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK
ACTIVITIES
Assists in the ordering of food and
food services supplies, and in menu preparation;
Assists in providing program
information to senior citizens;
Assists in the preparation of required
reports and in the maintenance of required records;
Plans and supervises recreational
activities for senior citizens;
Acts in place of the Senior Citizens
Nutrition Center Manager in his or her absence;
Assists in the supervision of kitchen
staff.

PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Working
knowledge of food service procedures for senior citizens; working knowledge of
recreational activities suitable for senior citizens; ability to supervise the
activities of volunteers and others in a manner conducive to full performance
and high morale; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and
in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Either:
a) Graduation from a New York State or
Regionally accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree; or,
b) Graduation from a standard senior high
school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of
experience in the administration or supervision of programs for the aged; or,
c) Six (6) years of experience as
described above; or,
d) An equivalent combination of education
and experience as defined by the limits of a) and b) and c).
