DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An
employee in this class administers and coordinates the Migrant Health and
Mobile Health Programs. The employee is
responsible for planning and implementing health services in the Migrant Health
Program. Supervision is exercised over
community service aides assigned to the program. Work is performed under
general supervision and is reviewed by a Clinic Coordinator through conferences
and written reports. Does related work
as required.
Develops an ongoing
rapport with the agricultural community through migrant camp visitation;
Conducts outreach and
follow-up medical treatment plans for migrant patients;
Maintains an
annually-updated list of certified migrant labor camps and a roster of camp
residents;
Develops and maintains
effective lines of communication with health center personnel;
Prepares reports on all
aspects of the Migrant Health Program.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough knowledge of the policies, regulations and practices of migrant
health programs; good knowledge of the methods and techniques used to meet the
cultural, medical and social needs of migrant workers; ability to evaluate and
oversee effective implementation of the programs according to established
practices and procedures; ability to establish and maintain good public
relations and effective lines of communications with everyone connected with
migrant projects; ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally
and in writing; ability to prepare operating and statistical tabulations and
reports; ability to plan, direct and supervise the work of others in a manner
conducive to full performance and high morale.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Two (2) years experience
as a supervising professional nurse or health administrator.
Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at the time of
appointment; appointees must maintain a valid license throughout their
employment in this title.
