DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An
employee in this class provides specialized administrative and technical
services to the public and private organizations engaged in developing youth
programs. The incumbent serves as a
Youth Bureau consultant to the county agencies, local governments and
grassroots groups to coordinate new and existing services. Under the supervision of an administrative
supervisor, the employee assists in the development of countywide programs for
youth. Work is reviewed through
conferences and written reports. Does
related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Assists contract agencies
in the development and conduct of youth service programs;
Identifies programmatic
problems, and works with public and private agencies to remedy them;
Consults with County,
town and community agencies, and serves as liaison among them;
Recommends methods to
achieve goals of new and established youth programs;
Prepares written reports
on delivery of services, programs objectives and program evaluations.

CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough
knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of developing and
conducting youth programs; thorough knowledge of the services available to
youth in public and private agencies; ability to coordinate the available
resources to provide cogent viable service programs; ability to secure
community support, and serve in a liaison capacity among the participating
groups; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in
writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Graduation from a New
York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's
degree and two (2) years of experience in youth services, youth programs and/or
youth employment programs.
