ASSISTANT
ICE RINK MANAGER 4016
An employee in this class is responsible for assisting with
the management of ice rink operations.
The incumbent supervises personnel to ensure the safety of the public
and staff. Supervision is exercised
over the part-time ice rink staff. Work
is reviewed by an Ice Rink Manager through consultations and periodic
reports. Does related work as required.
Assists with
the supervision of part-time Recreation Aides, Cashiers and Emergency Medical
Technicians;
May assist in
the supervision of full-time maintenance staff in the absence of the Ice Rink
Manager;
Assists Ice Rink Manager with the daily operations of a
municipality’s ice rink, and safety practices and procedures;
Schedules use of the ice for charter groups, lessons, hockey
programs and the general public;
Assists with skating lesson programs.

PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of the
methods and procedures required in the operation of ice rink facilities; good
knowledge of recreational activities and the operations of recreational
programs; ability to plan and supervise the recreation center’s part-time staff
to attain smooth and efficient performance results; ability to maintain good
relations with the local community; ability to express oneself clearly and
concisely, both orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the
demands of the position.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Either:
a)
Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university
with an Associate’s degree which includes an emphasis in Recreation or Physical
Education; or,
b) Graduation
from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
and two (2) years experience assisting in the management or operation of a
recreation facility; or,
c) An
equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of
a) and b).
