DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under supervision of and in the absence of the Golf Professional, an employee in this class is responsible for the supervision of the activity of employees engaged in assisting residents in the game of golf.  Incumbent employee is responsible for assisting the Golf Professional in handling public relations and insuring the public and employees conform to the rules and regulations of the golf course.  Does related work as required.

 

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

            Assists the Golf Professional in the supervision, direction and scheduling the activities of the golf shop, locker rooms and golf cart rentals;

            Assists in the enforcement of golf course rules and regulations;

            Assists the Golf Professional in planning and conducting member and charitable golf tournaments;

            Participates in tournaments when requested;

            Assists in the enforcement of club policies for members and guests;

            Collects appropriate fees for greens and cart rentals.

 

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Some knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of golf course management; professional level knowledge of the game of golf; ability to establish a working relationship with public officials and the general public; ability to assist in the teaching of golf to individuals and groups of all ages; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a standard senior high school or the possession of a high school equivalency diploma.

 

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be enrolled in the Professional Golf Association training classes with the expectancy of receiving PGA certification within six (6) years from the date of appointment to the title.
