DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under supervision, an employee in this class is responsible for the collec­tion and counting of coins deposited in town or village parking meters.  Work is routine in nature and is subject to review by an administrative supervisor through conferences and written reports.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Patrols an assigned area of parking meters, making collections and checking to insure that the meters are functioning properly;

          Counts monies collected, wraps coins and deposits collections in a assigned bank;  the deposit slips are given to the employee's immediate supervisor;

          Submits reports to a supervisor pertaining to meters which have been tampered with or are not functioning properly;

          May help in the removal of meters from their stanchions and minor repair work.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of arithmetic; ability to deal with the public in a courte­ous and tactful manner; ability to work in both favorable and unfavorable weather conditions; ability to follow oral and written instructions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of ten (10) school grades.

 

 

NOTE:  Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
