DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class coordinates municipal efforts to utilize energy efficiently and economical­ly.  Work is reviewed by an administrative supervisor through conferences and review of reports.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Monitors all aspects of local energy programs;

          Implements and supervises energy audits of municipal facilities;

          Supervises utilization of federal and state technical grants for energy conservation;

          Coordinates efforts of operating departments in effecting energy-saving modifications;

          Coordinates public information program on energy conservation;

          Formulates yearly budget for implementation of energy conservation program.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of current energy conservation methods; knowledge of statis­tical and budgeting procedures; ability to organize and implement a large-scale public service program; ability to gain the cooperation of organizations, public officials and civic groups; ability to prepare clear, accurate and comprehensive reports; ability to develop and manage a budget; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

          OPEN COMPETITIVE

          Either:

          (a) Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree, and two (2) years of experience in program evaluation, grants preparation or administration of an energy effectiveness program; or,

          (b) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and six (6) years of experience in program evaluation, grants preparation or administration of an energy effectiveness program; or,

          (c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).

 

 

NOTE:  Additional education beyond a Bachelor's Degree from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university will be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
