DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An
employee in this class is responsible for coordinating the interagency
operations of the District Attorney's Environmental Crime Unit with a
particular emphasis on radiological incidents.
Responsibility is included for providing training and education for the
County Radiological Response Team. Work
is performed under the supervision of an Assistant District Attorney. Does related work as required.
Provides
training for the County Radiological Response Team;
Maintains the inventory
of radiological survey instruments;
Develops and implements
procedures designed to safeguard the public at radiological incident scenes;
Coordinates interagency
operations of Environmental Crime Unit; notifies response team and maintains
status board;
Maintains hazardous
materials library;
Assists in planning
programs and conferences pertaining to the investigation of toxic and
radiological incidents and the preservation of a scene's evidentiary integrity;
Answers Environmental
Crime Unit Hotline.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough
knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of public protection at
radiological and hazardous materials incident scenes; thorough knowledge of the
effects of radiation; good knowledge of nuclear radiation and radiation detection
instruments; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with
others; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in
writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a
standard senior high school, or possession of a high school equivalency
diploma, and one (1) year of experience in safeguarding the public from the
hazards of nuclear radiation.
