An employee in this class is
responsible for supervising the preparation of cases in one of the major line
bureaus in the District Attorney's office.
The incumbent is expected to exercise considerable independent
initiative and judgment in the performance of duties. Supervision is exercised over the bureau staff. Work is reviewed
by the District Attorney or the Chief Assistant District Attorney through
reports and conferences. Does related
work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Supervises
the investigation and preparation of bureau cases brought before the courts for
prosecution;
Reviews
and analyzes all cases before and after investigation for application of the
law and prosecution strategy;
Prepares
affidavits and applications for court orders;
Represents
the County during presentation to the courts;
May
supervise the grand jury selection process.

Thorough knowledge of the laws of the
federal, state and municipal governments; thorough knowledge of court procedure
and policy; ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with County, state and federal
agencies; ability to plan, assign and
supervise the work of a bureau staff in a manner conducive to full performance
and high morale; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally
and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the
position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in the exempt class;
therefore, there are no minimum qualifications.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Candidates must possess a New York
State License to practice law before the Bar of the State of New York.
