DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class serves as the hearing officer in cases involving town-parking violations. The incumbent renders decisions in the above referenced matters. The nature of the work is such that the incumbent is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative in the performance of assigned duties. Supervision is received directly from the Town Attorney. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Serves as hearing
officer in town parking violations proceedings;
Renders decisions in
the above referenced matters;
Reviews and reports to
the Town Attorney and Town Board in matters concerning legislation, which
affects parking violations;
Prepares legal
instruments and materials pertaining to litigation involving parking
violations;
Prepares proposed
parking violation ordinances and amendments to town charters, laws and
administrative rules and regulations;
May attend Town Board
meetings.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing parking
within a town; thorough knowledge of mediation and arbitration procedures;
ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at
conclusions; ability to keep a variety of records and prepare and submit
reports; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in
writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
individuals, the town security force and the general public; ability to
maintain control of proceedings; physical condition commensurate with the
demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Graduation from a
standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
