SERVICES SUPERINTENDENT (VILLAGE OF GREENPORT) 7640
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Supervises,
coordinates and directs the daily activities of the Power Distribution Lines
Mechanics, Power Plant Operator’s and electrical workers;
Collaborates with engineers, project managers, and other
stakeholders to ensure successful completion of electrical systems within
designated timeframe and budget;
Supervises
and inspects the installation and maintenance of utility poles and overhead and
underground primary and secondary conductors;
Supervises
the operation and maintenance of the power generation units, including testing
and maintaining operational logs for each unit;
Directs
the work of engineering studies and reports pertaining to designs from the
distribution and general system expansions; reviews engineering studies;
Reviews and
maintains inspection, operating, maintenance and distribution work reports,
costs and related records; maintains capital cost records for the electric
department; prepares rate studies based upon operating costs;
Maintains
monthly inspection reports and performs inspections of all registered storage
tanks and ensures operating permits are current;
Make
recommendations and suggestions for changes in policies and procedures relating
to the operations of the Electric Department;
Prepares
correspondence and reports, compiles records;
Makes
recommendations to the Treasurer for the Electric Department budget.

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of the principles, practices and methods
used in administering a utilities district; good knowledge of the principles
and practices of business administration; good knowledge of the theory and
principles of electric power production and electric power distribution
systems; good knowledge of the codes, standards and regulations of the electric
utility regulatory agencies; ability to plan and supervise the work of
personnel, and to deal effectively and tactfully with the general public,
regulatory agency's personnel and supervisors to insure the efficient and
effective operation of a district; physical condition commensurate with the
demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

a)
Graduation from a college with federally-authorized
accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor's
Degree in Electrical Engineering, and four (4) years of experience in
the generation, distribution and maintenance and repair of power lines in a
public or private power utility; or,
b) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high
school equivalency diploma and eight (8) years
of experience as defined in a).
