DISTINGUISHING
FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class assists the Airport
Administrative Supervisor in the day-to-day
supervision of airport administrative functions. Knowledge of airport operations is required
in the administration of leases and tenant insurance requirements, the
monitoring of compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations, and
the coordination of activities requiring the cooperation of airlines,
fixed-based operators and airport tenants. The incumbent assists in overseeing
financial transactions and purchasing operations, budget and payroll management
and may perform public relations functions. The
employee may act as a resource person for special projects. Work is performed under general supervision,
and is reviewed through periodic conferences and reports. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK
ACTIVITIES
Maintains
coordination between airport management and all tenants, such as restaurants,
shops, and rental car agencies;
Assists in preparing revenue and expense forecasts and
budget proposals;
Assists in
coordinating airport activities such as administration of leases and contracts;
Receives
passenger and community complaints, rectifies problems or recommends solutions
to supervisors, as appropriate;
Assists
in analyzing data to develop growth patterns and anticipate future expansion of
facilities and operations;
Ensures
airport compliance with FAA regulations in the areas of noise allocations,
lease administration, and Federal aid to airports;
Assists in
planning and coordinating airport personnel during snow removal operations and
airport emergency functions;
Updates and
maintains the Public Airport Information Systems, both public and security based;
Assists in preparing special reports;
Performs special
projects as assigned.
FULL PERFORMANCE
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of the practices and techniques of
airport administration; good knowledge of computerized airport record-keeping
practices; good knowledge of FAA forms, format applications and required
notifications, including airport security procedures; good knowledge of
applicable FAA regulations and policies; good knowledge of air carrier/airport snow
removal operational rules and procedures, ability to effectively communicate
during normal and emergency airport operation; ability to establish and
maintain effective relationships with public officials, airport personnel and
tenants, and the general public; ability to express oneself clearly, both
orally and in writing; tact; physical condition commensurate with the demands
of the position.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or
registration by NY State with a Bachelor's Degree, and one (1) year of airport administrative experience.
NOTE: Graduation from a college with federally-authorized
accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor’s Degree specifically
in Aviation Administration or a related aviation field may be substituted for
the one (1) year of experience.
