DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class is responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of the College’s fund development programs.  The incumbent assists in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors for fundraising initiatives and manages a portfolio of prospects.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the Foundation and is reviewed through conferences and reports.  Performs related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Assists development team members with strategy implementation and solicitation for the annual fund;

Assists the development team with developing the annual development department budget and long-term strategic fund development plan;      

Develops specific donor strategy recommendations and moves management plans for key donor segments and prospects within assigned portfolios;

Conducts research pertaining to prospects within portfolio;

Maintains and monitors portfolio and qualifies prospective major gift donors;

Manages supporting documentation and other fundraising correspondence within assigned portfolio;

Inputs all call reports and relevant prospect information into database.           

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Thorough knowledge of fundraising principles and practices; thorough knowledge of annual giving programs in higher education; good knowledge of office applications including word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, and presentation software; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with prospects; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

            Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of fundraising experience.
