DEPUTY COUNTY COMPTROLLER 9302
Under direction, an employee in this class assists in developing and
implementing policies and procedures necessary for the efficient operation of
the Department of Audit and Control.
The work involves budget preparation, law and contracts interpretation,
and supervision of departmental staff.
Does related work as required.
Represents the
Comptroller in meetings and conferences;
Interprets Municipal
Finance Law, County Law and Resolutions of the County legislature to ensure
that the provisions thereof are properly administered;
Consults with
financial and municipal officers regarding financial matters in which the
County is involved, and serves in an advisory capacity on committees;
Prepares budget
estimates for various accounts and assists in preparing the budget for the
Department;
Handles the
interpretation of contracts concerning health insurance, retirement and other
accounts and makes policy decisions relative to same;
Prepares and
supervises the preparation of reports which are required of the Comptroller;
Supervises
departmental employees, interviews and hires personnel, and directs the maintenance
of personnel records and reports.
Thorough knowledge of legal, administrative and procedural regulations
applicable to the functions of the Department and the Comptroller; good
knowledge of the principles and practices of budget preparation; working
knowledge of modern bookkeeping methods; ability to plan, organize and
supervise the work of subordinates in a manner conducive to full performance
and high morale; ability to prepare statistical tabulations and operating
reports; ability to promote and maintain effective departmental and public
relations; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in
writing; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the
position.
There are no minimum qualifications for this class since it is in the
exempt classification.
