CHIEF
DEPUTY COUNTY COMPTROLLER 9303
Under general direction, an employee in this class assists the
Comptroller in the overall administration of the Department of Audit and
Control. The work involves the authority
to act and sign for the Comptroller at all times, complete charge of all
personnel in the Department, developing and carrying out policies and
procedures necessary to the efficient operation of the Department, and
personally handling matters of a confidential nature. Does related work as required.
Has authority to act
and sign for the Comptroller at all times;
Represents the
Comptroller in meetings and conferences, and may serve in an advisory capacity
on committees;
Administers all
personnel matters, including hiring and firing of departmental employees;
Assists in preparing
the budget for the Department;
Prepares financial and
operating reports;
Reviews all expense
vouchers for County officials;
Signs all State Aid
claims.
Thorough knowledge of legal, administrative and procedural regulations
applicable to the functions of the Department and the Comptroller; good
knowledge of the principles and practices of budgeting and budget preparation;
good knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of personnel
administration; ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of
subordinates in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale; ability
to prepare comprehensive financial and operating reports; ability to promote
and maintain effective departmental and public relations; ability to express
oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; good judgment;
physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
There are no minimum qualifications for this class since it is in the
exempt classification.
