DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Under the direction of the Suffolk County Campaign Finance Board, an employee in this class is responsible for carrying out and implementing the policies of the Board.  Responsibilities include developing and overseeing the office, which is responsible for carrying out the rules and regulations governing the allocation of public funds for candidates running for public office.  Work is reviewed through conferences, written reports and the achievement of desired objectives.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

           Implements the policies of the Campaign Finance Board;

            Continually develop Suffolk County’s campaign finance program;

            Promote and market public campaign finance funding options to prospective candidates and the public;

            Responsible for daily management of the office, including overseeing the allocation of public funds for candidates running for public office;

            Reviews the disclosure statements of candidates running for public office to determine their compliance with contribution and expenditure limits pursuant to Local Law No. 8-2019;

            Evaluates Suffolk County’s program for public financing pursuant to Local Law No. 8-2018;

            Implements public disclosure and public information procedures pursuant to Local Law No. 8-2018;

            Compiles and maintains disclosure data provided by candidates running for public office.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Thorough knowledge and ability to interpret government policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to the election process; knowledge of accounting principles; ability to promote and advance the goals of the Suffolk County Campaign Finance Board; ability to manage a public or private entity; ability to communicate rules, regulations and law to elected officials, challengers, and the public; ability to communicate and deal effectively with others; ability to prepare comprehensive reports and analyses; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; initiative; tact; judgment; leadership; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor’s Degree, and three (3) years of Executive level administration experience in government finance, government budgeting, or campaign finance.
