ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT SUSTAINABILITY DIRECTOR 9327
An employee in this class is responsible for development,
implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive program that incorporates
sustainability into all aspects of county operations and community life. The practice of sustainability addresses
present needs without compromising future needs, by integrating what is
environmentally supportable, socially equitable and economically viable. Supervision is exercised over professional,
technical, and clerical personnel.
Performance is reviewed by an administrative supervisor through
consultations and reports. Does related work as required.
Plans
and directs work of the sustainability division and its programs;
Develops, directs,
and maintains sustainable economic development projects designed to cost
effectively initiate economic, ecological, and social opportunities;
Initiates
sustainability activities related to energy optimization, waste reduction, and
resource conservation;
Manages
research and feasibility studies for potential sustainability projects;
Directs technical
assistance related to sustainability to all departments;
Acts
as a liaison to sustainability stakeholders;
Oversees
the maintenance of operations protocols for implementation of sustainability
objectives.
Comprehensive knowledge of the overall
Divisional programs, functions, activities, policies, and regulations; thorough
knowledge of the methods and techniques of office management and organization;
thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and budgeting;
ability to implement sustainability programs; ability to establish effective
working relationships with community leaders, public officials and the general
public; ability to supervise the work of subordinate personnel in a manner
conducive to full performance and high morale; ability to communicate
effectively orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the
demands of the position.
Graduation from a college with
federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor's Degree in economics and five (5)
years of experience in environmental sustainability program management.
