DISTINGUISHING
FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under general supervision, an employee in this class
assists in designing and planning special programs and projects and solving
problems associated with the administration and operation of departmental
programs. The incumbent is expected to
exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative. A major emphasis of the position is on the
confidential nature of work involved.

Prepares correspondence and
departmental reports;

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough knowledge of principles, techniques and
practices of office management and supervision; good knowledge of principles
and practices of public administration; good knowledge of personnel
administration; good knowledge of modern office appliances, practices and
procedures; ability to plan and direct the work of others in a manner conducive
to full performance and high morale; ability to prepare reports; ability to
express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies; courtesy;
tact; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from
a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency
diploma recognized by the New York State Education Department and (5) five
years of administrative experience.
NOTE:
Additional education beyond high school from with a college with
federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State may be
substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
