DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class is responsible for the coordination of work involving the acquisition, sale and management of County owned real property.  Supervision is exercised over division staff through the unit supervisor.  Work is reviewed by the Director of Real Estate through conferences and written reports.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

            Oversees unit supervisors in day-to-day operations and administration;

            Negotiates with sellers in connection with County environmental acquisitions;

            Coordinates efforts to reach a closing and represents the division at closings;

            Represents the division before legislative and administrative bodies;

            Executes instruments including deeds and resolutions on behalf of the division in the place and stead of the Director;

            Implements departmental policy and objectives by assisting the Director in the overall day-to-day running of the division;

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Good knowledge of the laws of federal, state and municipal governments as they apply to municipal, environmental and real properties matter; good knowledge of public administration practices and procedures; ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of others in manner conducive to full performance and high morale; ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, professional consultants and the general public; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

           

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

            OPEN COMPETITIVE

Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years of professional real estate transaction experience in any of the following areas: residential and commercial acquisitions, real estate portfolio and property management, urban/suburban development, or community development, which includes administrative experience in government real estate matters.
