DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class is involved in assisting the County Executive's Office in the general management of County government.  Duties are of a low level confidential nature and are performed under the supervision of the County Executive, Chief Deputy County Executive, Deputy County Executives and/or Assistant Deputy County Executives.  Supervision is exercised over an assigned professional and techni­cal staff.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Assists in the general management of County government, thereby relieving the County Executive of a variety of management details;

          Assists in performing studies and preparing reports on assigned projects relating to government operations;

          Gathers and coordinates data; and reports to supervisors on matters of low level County Executive confidence;

          May coordinate operations for a particular function of the County Executive’s Office;

          May research the impact of proposed regulations and legislation on func­tions carried out by a particular department, project or program.

Good knowledge of the principles and procedures of public administration; good knowledge of the methods and techniques of office management and organi­zation; good knowledge of effective supervisory techniques; ability to conduct research and write reports; ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of personnel in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; good judgment; tact; courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
