DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

An employee in this class is involved in developing, directing and supervising one or more of the programs and services being administered and/or monitored by the County Execu­tive's Office.  Duties are of a middle level confidential nature; and are per­formed under the general supervision of the County Executive, Chief Deputy County Executive, Deputy County Executives and/or Assistant Deputy County Executives. Work differs from that of a County Executive Assistant III in the degree of supervisory responsibility.  Does related work as required.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

          Develops, directs and supervises one or more of the programs and services of the County Executive's Office, such as the program of Public Affairs for the Intergovernmental Relations Unit, or the program of Senior Citizens Affairs for the Human Resources Division;

          Assists in the representation of various interests and programs being advocated by the County Executive's Office;

          Establishes and maintains contacts with various organizations which have goals in harmony with the County's interest;

          Gathers and coordinates data; and reports to supervisors on matters of middle level County Executive confidence;

          Assists the County Executive's Office in the general management of County government;

          Provides reports and information on projects and programs related to County government operations.

Thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures of public adminis­tration; thorough knowledge of the programs and services administered by the County Executive's Office; thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques of office management and organization; thorough knowledge of effective supervisory techniques; ability to conduct studies of government, to perform administrative research and to write reports; ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of personnel in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; good judgment; tact; courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in the exempt jurisdictional class; therefore, there are no minimum qualifications.
