DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class maintains the financial records for the
Vocational Education and Extension Board.
The employee is appointed by the Board in accordance with section 1102
of the State Education Law. The
incumbent exercises independent judgment and initiative under the general
supervision of the Executive Director and the Vocational Education and Extension
Board. Work is reviewed by an administrative
supervisor through conferences and written reports. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Records and
maintains ledgers, accurately posting and reconciling accounting figures;
Receives, deposits and
disburses monies for purchase orders;
Oversees and maintains
payroll;
Issues reports on bank
balances, itemized receipts and withdrawals to the Vocational Education and
Extension Board;
Prepares monthly,
quarterly and annual reports of receipts and disbursements of monies.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good knowledge of the laws and regulations of New York State relating
to financial records of a Vocational Education and Extension Board; good
knowledge of bookkeeping, recording and filing; good knowledge of arithmetic
and ledger posting; ability to understand and carry out complex written and
oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
with VEEB members, employees and the general public; ability to express oneself
clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical condition
commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in the Exempt Class; therefore there are no minimum
qualifications.
