DUTIES
An employee in this class is responsible for

filtration which produces 2.5 million gallons or less of water per day, but
serves a population greater than 1,000. The incumbent supervises the operation
of one or more ground well pumping stations, the application of chemicals to
the water distribution systems and the monitoring and regulation of reservoir
levels. This class differs from other classes of Senior Water Treatment Plant
Operators by virtue of the size of the population served, the type of treatment
performed and the type of license required; these criteria are established by
the New York State Sanitary Code. The
senior operator's work differs from that of an operator in the higher degree of
independence, initiative and responsibility delegated by an administrative or
technical superior in the day-to-day operations and functions of the treatment
plant. Work is reviewed by an administrative or technical superior. Does related work as required.
